MOVING TIPS - TO HELP YOU SAVE TIME AND MONEY:

Packing boxes:

•Place items you do not want moved separately: in a closet, the corner of a bedroom, or in an empty bathroom. During the preliminary walk-thru, inform your movers.

•Have all items boxed. No loose lampshades or electronics.

•Use plenty of packing materials. Objects should not be sliding inside boxes, and boxes should be filled to the top to prevent crushing.

•Use real moving boxes if possible. Same-sized boxes stack much faster in a truck than mismatched ones from a store. They also take less time to carry.

•Do not fill large boxes with books or heavy items. Large boxes can rupture under their own weight, ruining your belongings. They may require two movers to move instead of one, which will increase your labor costs. Please use small book boxes instead.

•TVs, cable boxes and stereos should be disconnected and boxed ahead of time.

•Use electronics boxes to move electronics whenever possible. They are larger, sturdier and designed for that task.

•Pictures should be well padded (using paper pads, bubble-wrap or blankets) and placed inside picture boxes. They should not be sliding around in a box.

Your home and furniture:

•For safety and efficiency, please clear pathways inside your home.

•All surfaces should be clear of papers, clothes and objects.

•If possible, mirrors and glass should be taken off furniture.

•The long pathways in apartment buildings will take longer to travel. Parking lots, stairs and elevators can also slow down moving considerably.

•The truck should be as close to the entry way as possible, away from traffic, and on level ground. Even a 10 foot distance adds up when your movers can cover that distance hundreds of times during a move.

•If you have very large or heavy items to move, let us know so we can be prepared. We may need to bring special tools or equipment.

•Call us should you have any special needs or concerns.

A warning about trailers:

•Fully loaded trailers should not weigh more than half the weight of your vehicle. They are not at all recommended for cars.

•Most of the weight should be loaded first.

•In case of sway, do not over-steer or brake suddenly. You could flip over your vehicle. Slow down gradually and limit your amount of steering.
